Jurassic Park

There are no theme parks in Poland...and so the likes of Alton Towers, Disneyland and Six Flags are sorely missed. However, things are changing indeed. In the past year a sudden spate of dinosaur themed parks have sprouted up around the country. There are atleast 2 within an hour's drive of Toruń. The parks are primarily aimed at educating children about the differences between a T-Rex and a Spinosauraus. Life-size, fibre-glass models of dinosaurs are scattered around the park complete with informative boards describing the different dinosaurs in detail (in Polish, English and German). A great place to come for the whole family. After all kids (even us big kids) just love dinosaurs!!

Our only grudge with the park we visited yesterday was that on top of the admission price...they also charged us for parking a car in their car park (despite the fact that travelling by car is the only way to get there!)...penny pinching indeed!

Hello there, and greetings from Belgrade! Thanks for dropping by my blog. I loved dinosaurs as a child, had quite a collection of all sorts, and still go to see parks/exhibits like this when I can. None here yet though; too bad.
I love the photos you took!

Hello,

did you take these pictures in Solec Kujawski?

Could you tell me, where the second park is ("There are at least 2 within an hour's drive of Toruń.")?

Best regards

Hi Prause, no these pics were not taken in the new Jura Park in Solec Kujawski. Instead these were taken in the 2nd park...which is actually near Gniezno (just under an hour and a half's drive from Toruń). I haven't been to Solec Kujawski yet...but have heard it's much smaller than the one featured here.

Hope I have been of some help to you!

How interesting! I never imagined that Poland would have dinosaur themed parks. My son saw the pix and said I want to go see that! Very cool!

Hello Glenn,

thank you very much for your answer.

I hoped to find another park (besides Solec Kujawski) nearer the place where I live, but Gniezno (worth seeing old town!) is a little bit too far away.

Best regards

Hi Andreas, Thanks for the reply and for being a regular reader of TORUŃ DAILY PHOTO. Where are you from? Your name is not Polish!!!

Funny you mentioned Gniezno...as that's where tomorrow post will be from...as part of our Trips Out of Toruń series!

Hello Glenn,

since 1999 I am living in Chelmno, a small but beautiful town (about 40 km northwest of Torun), proving in my free time information on

- Chelmno's worthing seeing places
- town's history
- nice places to visit in our region
- news and future events

for German tourists on my website www.chelmno.info (I am German, spent my childhood in Hann. Münden - Chelmno's sister city in Lower Saxony and studied in Göttingen/Getynga - Torun's sister city).

Sometimes I take a look at Torun. You can find for instance a short report about our trip to Torun's zoo (www.portal.chelmno.info/ausflugsziel-zoobotanischer-garten-in-thorn/) and some pictures from your old town (www.portal.chelmno.info/culm/kujawien-pommern/).

Best regards

Andreas
